Comcast Journey Lab — Multi-Dwelling Unit Strategy
Journey Lab background
The Journey Lab was an output of the Experience Innovation team — an internal consultancy within Comcast formed to explore emerging markets and help shape strategic direction and north star visions for new products and services. I joined this multidisciplinary team as a UX design SME, bringing experience in workshop facilitation, user research, and product strategy.
The Multi-Dwelling Unit opportunity
The project outlined here was roughly a quarter’s worth of work, focused on the multi-dwelling unit (MDU) market — a diverse segment encompassing apartment buildings, retirement communities, and college dorms. The business recognized that this area warranted a holistic strategy, but no work had been done to map the competitive landscape or define what a coherent offering might look like.
What we created
The project began with an extensive research phase to understand how the MDU business currently operated within Comcast and how it stacked up against the competitive landscape. We then ran a series of design thinking workshops with internal stakeholders to generate new concepts and build buy-in across the organization. The final output was the strategy deck shown here — a synthesis of our findings that presented leadership with a clear roadmap for a new offering built on top of the existing business.
