NOWhaus! (better late than never)
This last spring I had the opportunity to co-chair my favorite student-run event at the Institute of Design, NOWhaus. It's a nod to our school's experimental spirit from the early days as the New Bauhaus, and the night gives ID students an opportunity to share their interests, passions, or projects that they might not otherwise have a chance to share. The format is Pecha Kucha presentations, which make for a very fun and engaging talks that mesh perfectly with the somewhat offbeat nature of the night. I jumped into the fray with my thoughts on a local design icon, the Chicago style hot dog. The night as a whole was a great success, and I was glad to be a part of it. I had the chance to deliver my talk again at the Design Research Conference, which caught the attention of the Chicago Tribune, which was unexpected to say the least!
I'm excited to help organize this year's NOWhaus once again in the spring, but I still haven't decided whether or not I will be doing another presentation. Time will tell!
